November 2020 THANKSGIVING DONE RIGHT WITH ANCESTRY CELLARS As wine enthusiasts, we know that one of the essential parts of the Thanksgiving feast is choosing great wine. With so many different flavors on the menu, and a variety of guests with a range of palates, selecting wines that pair well can get a little overwhelming. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered with a little guidance on our best tried-and-true Ancestry Cellars wines to set you up for success. 2017 Reminiscence Riesling Our Riesling opens with a crisp nose of apple blossom and lemon making it a beautiful compliment to Thanksgiving dishes. So much so that we created this Riesling with Thanksgiving in mind. The winemaker’s parents like sweeter white wines to sip on while "Reminiscing about the past" hence, our Reminiscence Riesling was born. Its acidity and hint of sweetness balance the richness of traditional Thanksgiving fare wonderfully. This wine is particularly complementary with salty gravy-slathered turkey and herb-filled stuffing. Grab some of this award-winning Riesling and find out for yourself. 2019 Macheveau Our Macheveau (a mash up of Ma lbec, Che lan and Nou veau ) is a fun twist on the predictable Thanksgiving table wine. Made in a Nouveau style by going through 2 weeks of carbonic maceration, it is then aged briefly in neutral oak puncheons. It truly is unlike any Malbec you have ever tasted! The wine has hints of bubble gum and black pepper with tons of underlying blueberry. Best sipped slightly chilled, try a twist on Thanksgiving and serve with honey baked ham this year. 2017 di Donato Sangiovese With bright Bing cherry notes and a hint of cranberry, this delicious wine is a lovely partner to your Thanksgiving meal. Lighter tannins give this wine a soft warming mouth feel making for smooth and easy drinking. Think about breaking the Thanksgiving day rules and pair this wine with prime rib, roasted vegetables, or even lamb. No matter what delectable dishes adorn your table, a glass of this Sangiovese is sure to have everyone giving thanks! 2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Recently taking home Platinum, Best of Class for Sip Magazine’s Best of the Northwest, this award-winning wine is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Immediately present is a rich nose of vanilla and peppercorn with a light smokiness. With notes of baked black plum, cherry, peppercorn and clove, this Cab screams holidays and coziness.
